Gold Strike is a fantastic classic slot game for everyone who loves gold or cowboys or both. This is the Wild Wild West and the only goal here is to blow up stuff with dynamite to find as much gold as possible. In this 5 reel slot game from Games Warehouse we have got 5 reels, 20 fixed pay lines, and 3 rows. Games Warehouse was recently acquired by Blueprint Gaming, meaning that even more great games will be coming soon. In Gold Strike bets can be placed from 0.20 up to 400, but you can also play for free if you wish to, so giddy up partner and press spin.
Theme, characters and environment
Dry, hot mountains in the south west are depicted in the background of the 5 x 3 reel with brightly coloured symbols spinning. You’ve got your standard 10, J, Q, K and A, but they have bullet holes in them. The background is naturally coloured, but when it comes the symbols they are brightly coloured in blue, purple, green, yellow and red. As you would hope, there is also some guns and dynamite thrown into the symbols. This is a solid theme, with a jolly cowboy song, some yiiiiihaaas and plenty of gun shots to seal the deal.
Theme and characters
In this game we get to experience the exhilarating times of the Gold Strike, when people set out to find their own luck with shovels, dynamite and guns on their hands. The sense of adventure and big hopes is strong in this slot game, that really delivers the rush of the gold strike to your doorstep. Spin away to activate one of the two bonus features, and enjoy the ride, because this is a fun game.
Environment and atmosphere
Games Warehouse have opted for a minimal retro look without too many animations, but there is plenty of cool 2D action going on with dynamite explosions and gun smoke, with a lot of respins in the main game, that can lead to some serious cash. This is called the Lock n Load feature, and it comes up each time you score a winning combination. All the other symbols are updated with a respin, and this happens repeatedly until you hit a spin with no new winnings. The atmosphere here is really jolly, thanks to the cool graphics, great soundtrack and lots of interesting features.
In order to win you must need to get at least three of the same symbols on a payline, have at least three Dynamite scatter symbols anywhere in view. Only the highest win is paid on each payline, and all wins on all paylines are added together, with Scatter wins and bonus wins. If you want to see the paylines, you can click on the “Info”-button in the game.
Symbols and soundtrack
Gold Strike has a colourful interface with main symbols like the following:
- 10, J and Q, in blue, yellow and purple (pays 0.20, 0.20, 0.40)
- K and A in green and red (pays 0.40, 0.60)</
- Two pistols and a bullet (pays 1.00)</
There are several interesting symbols in this game, like the The Gold Strike logo, the Sheriff Badge Wild, the Lucky Strike logo and the Dynamite Scatter.
Music and sound effects
Put on your cowboy boots and do a little dance to this fun tune! The soundtrack is great, with a typical wild wild west song, in combination with lots of loud and fun sound effects. Yes, lots of firing bullets, happy outbursts and explosions going on.
In addition to the built-in respins that makes this game so enjoyable at all times, Gold Strike video slot also offers an interesting bonus game. In the Lucky Strike Bonus you get to pick one of 25 squares on a map to find one of the Lucky Strike symbols for a cash win. If you get to the Gold Mine you choose one of the three detonators to blow up an entrance to the gold mine, with the chance of winning a nice prize.
Gold Mine bonus game
The Gold Mine bonus game is always active. Whenever you receive a winning combination, the symbols contributing to the win are automatically locked in place, as the other symbols are changed in the respin. This process continues over and over again until you receive no new symbols improving the win. As the game counts your points there are several dynamite explosions and gun shots fired to salute your winnings.
Lucky Strike bonus game
The second bonus feature is activated when a player gets a minimum of six Dynamite scatter symbols, regardless of where on the reels they appear. When this happens, the Lucky Strike Bonus game starts, with a new screen showing 5 tin cans. You get to select one of the tin cans to win a random prize. If the tin can also reveals the ‘Lucky Strike’ symbol you will be taken to a new screen showing 20 squares. This is where you once again want to pick the Lucky Strike symbol, in order to get to the final bonus game, with 3 gold mines and 3 dynamite detonators. You guessed it… fire off the right detonator to win a cash prize.
It is the Sheriff Badge that is wild symbol, meaning that it can substitute for all other symbols except for the special symbols, to complete a winning combination.
Dynamite! Players that get at least six of these will unlock the Lock and Load feature and activate the Tin Can Alley bonus. This is the symbol you will be looking out for, because it is in the great bonus games that you can start stacking up really good wins.
Pros and cons of the slot
There is always something exciting going on in the Gold Strike video slot, largely thanks to the Gold Mine bonus game. You can win up to £250,000 with this game though, and that is a big plus. The Return To Player (RTP) of 95% is pretty average. We love automatic respins, and this game also comes with some really good animations that makes it all the more enjoyable. It is a sold Wild Wild West theme and therefore we can recommend this slot to anyone who like to enjoy themselves with a fun and nicely designed gaming experience.
- Solid gold rush theme
- Great old school graphics
- Fun bonus features
- No progressive jackpot
- No free spins bonus game
